You can order a replacement registration plate for your vehicle in the My e-Services portal if the original plate has been lost or damaged.

You may replace the plate, for example, due to worn paint, dents or other damage.

To order a plate, you must be the vehicle’s owner or holder.

When you cannot order a registration plate online

You must order the plate at an inspection station if:

  • the registration plate has been stolen – file a police report before ordering and take it with you to the inspection station
  • you wish to change the registration number or plate type
  • both registration plates have been lost.

How to order a registration plate at an inspection station

Do the following

1

Log in to My e-Services

After identification, select your role: services for private individuals, acting on behalf of another person, or acting on behalf of a company or an organisation.

2

Order the registration plate under the Vehicles and taxation section

In the list, choose the vehicle you want to order a plate.
Then select Order a registration plate to replace a lost or damaged one.

3

Pay for the registration plate order

You can save the receipt if you wish. It will also be available later on the My activities page, where you can also check that your order has been placed successfully.

4

Collect the registration plate from the inspection station

Collect the registration plate from the inspection station two weeks after placing your order. You will not receive a separate notification when the plate arrives. You can check your chosen collection point later on the My activities page.

If you have ordered a new plate to replace a damaged one, you may use either the damaged plate or a temporary registration plate until the new one is ready for collection. However, a temporary plate may only be used for up to one month after placing the order. The temporary plate can, for example, be a clearly visible registration number written on cardboard. Return the damaged plate to the inspection station when collecting the new one.

If you have ordered a new plate to replace a lost one, use a temporary registration plate until the new one is ready for collection.

If you cannot order a replacement registration plate for a lost or damaged plate online, you can place the order at an inspection station that offers registration services. Take a valid identity document with you.

If the registration plate has been stolen, file a police report before placing the order and take the report with you to the inspection station.
