Moped licence AM/120

A moped licence gives you the right to ride two and three-wheeled mopeds, the maximum speed of which is between 25 km/h and 45 km/h.

Moped car (light quadrimobile) licence AM/121

With a moped car licence, you are allowed to drive light quadrimobiles, so-called moped cars.

You are also allowed to drive the following ATVs:

  • Category L6e-A light on-road all-terrain vehicles. The maximum speed for the vehicles is 45 km/hour,
  • Category T3a tractor ATVs. The maximum speed for the vehicles is 40 km/h,
  • Category T3b tractor ATVs. The maximum speed of the vehicles is more than 40 km/h, but a maximum of 60 km/h.

Tractor licence T

You are allowed to drive Category T1a, T1b, T2a, T2b and T3a tractors and tractor ATVs, the maximum speed of which is 60 km/h.

A tractor licence allows you to also drive motorised work machines and snowmobiles and tow vehicles that they are used to tow.

A tractor licence does not allow you to drive Category T3b tractor ATVs. You will need a Category AM/121 moped car licence for them.

An old LT driving licence gives you the right to drive vehicles that you are allowed to drive with an AM/121 moped car licence and a T tractor licence.

Light motorcycle licence A1

You are allowed to ride motorcycles with a maximum cylinder volume of 125 cm3 and maximum power of 11 kW, and three-wheeled vehicles with three symmetrically placed wheels and a maximum power of 15 kW.

An A1 licence gives you the right to also drive all vehicles that you are allowed to drive with an AM/120 moped licence, an AM/121 moped car licence and a T tractor licence. 

Medium-sized motorcycle licence A2

You are allowed to ride motorcycles with a maximum power of 35 kW and a power-to-weight ratio of no more than 0.2 kW/kg. However, you cannot ride a converted motorcycle, the original power of which was more than twice its power.

An A2 licence also gives you the right to drive all vehicles that you are allowed to drive with an AM/120 moped licence, an AM/121 moped car licence, a T tractor licence and an A1 light motorcycle licence.

Motorcycle licence A

You are allowed to ride all motorcycles and use them to tow vehicles. You can also drive three-wheeled vehicles with three symmetrically placed wheels and a maximum power in excess of 15 kW.

An A licence also gives you the right to drive all vehicles that you can drive with an AM/120 moped licence, an AM/121 moped car licence, a T tractor licence, an A1 light motorcycle licence and an A2 medium-sized motorcycle licence.

Passenger car licence B

You are allowed to drive cars weighing up to 3,500 kg. The car must have been designed and manufactured to carry a maximum of eight passengers in addition to the driver. You can therefore also drive a van.

A passenger car licence gives you the right to drive vehicle combinations, such as a car and a trailer, as long as the towed vehicle does not weigh more than 750 kg or the weight of the combination does not exceed 3,500 kg.

You can also drive three-wheeled vehicles of up to 15 kW of power and with three symmetrically placed wheels. When you are aged 21 years or over, you can also drive three-wheeled vehicles of more than 15 kW of power and three symmetrically placed wheels.

A passenger car licence also allows you to drive all vehicles that you are allowed to drive with an AM/120 moped licence, an AM/121 moped car licence and a T tractor licence.

You can also drive Category L7e-A heavy on-road quads and Category L7e-B heavy all-terrain quads.

Vehicle combinations B/96 and BE

A B/96 licence gives you the right to drive a combination of a passenger car and a trailer in which the trailer weighs more than 750 kg and the vehicle combination more than 3,500 kg. However, the total weight must not be more than 4,250 kg.

A BE licence gives you the right to drive a combination of a passenger car and a trailer in which the trailer does not weigh more than 3,500 kg.

Lorry licences C1, C, C1E and CE

C1 licence

You are allowed to drive vehicles that weigh more than 3,500 kg but no more than 7,500 kg. The vehicle must have been designed and manufactured to carry a maximum of eight passengers in addition to the driver.

You are also allowed to drive a vehicle combination that has a Category C1 towing vehicle. The towed vehicle must not weigh more than 750 kg.

C licence

You are allowed to drive vehicles that weigh more than 3,500 kg. The vehicle must have been designed and manufactured to carry a maximum of eight passengers in addition to the driver.

You are also allowed to drive vehicle combinations that have a Category C towing vehicle. The towed vehicle must not weigh more than 750 kg.

A C licence also gives you the right to drive Category C1 vehicles.

C1E combination licence

You are allowed to drive vehicle combinations that have a Category C1 towing vehicle. The towed vehicle may weigh more than 750 kg, but the total weight of the combination must not exceed 12,000 kg.

You are also allowed to drive vehicle combinations that have a Category B towing vehicle. The towed vehicle may weigh more than 3,500 kg and the combination no more than 12,000 kg.

You are also allowed to drive vehicles in Category BE.

CE combination licence

You are allowed to drive vehicle combinations that have a Category C towing vehicle. The towed vehicle may weigh more than 750 kg.

A CE licence gives you the right to also drive vehicle combinations that have a Category C1 towing vehicle. The towed vehicle may weigh more than 750 kg and the total weight of the combination may exceed 12,000 kg.

You are also allowed to drive vehicles in Categories C1E and BE.

Bus licences D1, D, D1E and DE

D1 licence

A D1 licence gives you the right to drive vehicles designed and manufactured to carry a maximum of 16 passengers in addition to the driver. The length of the vehicle must not exceed 8 metres.

You are also allowed to drive vehicle combinations that have a Category D1 towing vehicle. The towed vehicle must not weigh more than 750 kg.

D licence

A D licence gives you the right to also drive vehicles that have been designed and manufactured to carry more than eight passengers in addition to the driver.

You can drive vehicle combinations that have a Category D towing vehicle. The towed vehicle must not weigh more than 750 kg.

D1E licence

A D1E licence gives you the right to drive vehicle combinations that have a Category D1 towing vehicle. The towed vehicle may weigh more than 750 kg.

A D1E licence also gives you the right to drive Category BE vehicles.

DE combination licence

A DE licence allows you to drive vehicle combinations that have a Category D towing vehicle. The towed vehicle may weigh more than 750 kg.

A DE licence gives you the right to also drive vehicles in Categories D1E and BE.
