When you apply for the transfer permit, you will also need a motor vehicle liability insurance. You can take out a temporary motor liability insurance granted by the Finnish Motor Insurers’ Centre when you apply for the transfer permit.
However, you can use the (continuous) motor vehicle liability insurance of your own vehicle in the following cases:
- The vehicle is used in traffic and you are the owner or the holder of the vehicle or you have been authorised by the owner or the holder.
- You are applying for a transfer permit for the competitive use of the vehicle and you are the owner or the holder of the vehicle or you have been authorised by the owner or the holder.
- Your vehicle has not been registered before and you are the applicant of the transfer permit and the holder of the insurance policy.
