Has something happened to your driving licence or has your information changed? The easiest way to order a new driving licence is by using the electronic service. Read the instructions on this page and order a new driving licence.
Because the new driving licence will replace the previous one, it is also called a duplicate driving licence.
If your driving licence validity is about to expire, you cannot order a new driving licence using the instructions on this page. Instead, you need to renew your driving licence.
How to renew your driving licence
Use the service for ordering a new driving licence if
- your driving licence is lost
- your driving licence is in bad condition or it is broken
- your driving licence has been stolen
- you wish to replace your old driving licence with a new one
- your name has changed
- you can no longer be recognized from the photograph on your previous driving licence
- the police has revised your driving rights (for example added or removed special condition 01 concerning glasses)
If you are ordering a new driving licence because of a changed personal identity code, do not use the service. Book an appointment at one of Ajovarma’s service points.
When can I order a new driving licence electronically?
You can use the e-services to order a new driving licence if
- you have not been previously granted a driving licence in Finland or abroad. By using the service, you give permission to check the information in other EU and EEA countries.
- your permanent address is in mainland Finland. Your driving licence will be sent to your address in Finland as stated in the population information system.
- you have not been banned from driving.
- you have previously submitted your photo and signature to an authority for example for a passport application.
- you can log into the service using online banking codes or a mobile certificate.
Follow the steps below
Log into the service and fill in the application electronically
Order a new driving licence in Traficom's My e-Services. You can find the application form in the service under the heading Driving licence.
When you log in to the service, you can see your photo and signature obtained from the passport photo register of the police. When applying for a driving licence online, you accept the use of the photo and the signature on your driving licence.
If the system does not contain your photograph and signature or if you do not want to use them in your driving licence, you cannot order a driving licence electronically.
Pay for the driving licence application
Pay for the order in the service. The price for the driving licence application in the service is EUR 19.
After the payment your order will be sent for processing.
Your driving licence will arrive by post
You will receive your driving licence by post in approximately two weeks.

What should I do if the driving licence that I have ordered is not delivered?
