If you have a parking card issued by Traficom or a parking permit issued the police, you may be granted an exemption from the base tax of vehicle tax. You may also be granted the exemption by the Finnish Tax Administration under sections 26, 50 or 51 of the Car Tax Act. In this case, you do not have to submit a separate application to Traficom.

You may only be granted the exemption for one vehicle at a time. The exemption is granted either for a vehicle owned by a person with a disability or another vehicle used to transport them. If the vehicle is powered by diesel or electricity, for example, you will still pay the share of the driving power tax. Information about the exemption is included in the taxpayer's tax bill.

You can use My e-Services to:

  • Apply for an exemption from the base tax of vehicle tax based on a parking card if the parking card has been granted after 1 January 2016.
  • Transfer an existing exemption from one vehicle to another.
  • Cancel an existing exemption.
